2013 World Champs - 08 September 2011

	2013 world champs

As most of you will know we currently only send a team every second year to the world champs as this was the arrangement with Aust when we set up the Oceania champs; they now send a team every year to the worlds buit we have not done so due mainly to costs.
The 2013 worlds are being held in Norway which will be similar fishing to NZ and we believe they are all wild fish (rather than stocked as most) and therefore will give us a reasonable chance in a European event.
The board has decided to send a team to this event so this years regional’s will be a world team qualifying year; as well as the Oceania Champs which we will be hosting.

Get your entries into the regionals if you want to qualify for nationals and be in with a chance to make the team!!

NZ Team Selecte - 30 June 2007

The team to represent NZ at the 2008 World Champs here in NZ was chosen recently at the fish-off following the NZ championship.

The top 10 anglers from this event went to a fish off to decide who would be in the NZ team. The results of both events are added together for the final result

The fish off was held with 2 sessions on the Ohinemuri on the Saturday and two on the Sunday on Lakes Rotoaira and Otamangakau.

Des Armstrong won the first session on the Ohinemuri with a great total of 12 fish from Craig Farrar and Neil Hirtzel with 8; he won again in the afternoon with 9 fish with Dan Comer and Aaron West with 5 each. On Rotoaira Aaron came through with 7 with Lloyd Armstrong getting 6.

Lake Otamangakau was an unknown quantity for the after session as it had not been used for a competition for a long time. Dan Comer managed to land 10 fish to score first place here from Des

Des won the fish off with Dan second and Aaron third so the combined totals meant the NZ team is

John Bell
Aaron West
Des Armstrong
Craig Farrar
Lloyd Struthers
Paul Dewar (Captain)
Dan Comer (Reserve)

This is top quality team which I believe has a great chance of taking out the world title here in 2008.
Paul Dewar
